Measure D Voted Down with 100% total votes counted

Measure D Election Results:100% final results-No

Yes--Votes 2,571--pct. 38%
No--Votes 4,139--pct. 62%

Measure D would have implemented a 1% sales tax, the
revenues from this tax would be targeted for general City purposes, such as:
  • The Police Department
  • The Fire Department
  • 9-1-1 emergency response
  • street and pothole repair
  • youth recreation programs
  • to improve traffic flow and safety
  • protect local coastal areas and beaches from polluted storm water runoff and trash.
This is/was a local tax to be placed in the City of Pacifica’s General Fund, and could not be taken away by the State of California or the County of San Mateo.

Without this tax Pacifica is faced with tough decisions ahead. Where will the cutbacks take place. When will decaying infrastructure, in some neighborhoods, ever see much needed improvements, to ensure public safety, and handicapped access to sidewalks? Reflective street markings, more street lights, the laundry list goes on.
